Primera Liga reports

Brief reports of Primera Liga matches played on Sunday:

ATLETICO MADRID 1 ALAVES 1

Atletico have now gone six games without a win after surrendering what looked like a certain victory for the second week in a row.

Striker Fernando Torres scored his first goal in two months when he put Atletico in front midway through the second half with an acrobatic finish after Argentine winger Maxi Rodriguez had whipped in a fantastic cross towards the far post.

Midfielder Josu Sarriegie levelled the match nine minutes from time when he caught keeper Ismael Falcon off his line with a looping header after a free kick.

BARCELONA 2 SEVILLA 1

A moment of brilliance from European Footballer of the Year Ronaldinho allowed Barca to equal their 50-year-old club record and notch up their 11th consecutive victory in all competitions.

The Catalans were made to fight every inch of the way by Sevilla who took the lead midway through the second half when Frederic Kanoute stabbed in from close range after former Barca player Javier Saviola had hit the post.

But they were back on level terms just two minutes later when Samuel Eto'o headed in after a Ronaldinho corner found its way to him at the far post.

The effervescent Ronaldinho decided the match when he steered past keeper Andres Palop after exchanging a lightning one-two with substitute Henrik Larsson 12 minutes from time.

DEPORTIVO CORUNA 1 CADIZ 0

Three wins from four games for Joaquin Caparros's Deportivo who secured the points when Diego Tristan snapped home a sharp first-time shot after a great pass from Juan Carlos Valeron five minutes after the break.

Cadiz have now taken just two points from the last seven games and are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.

GETAFE 1 RACING SANTANDER 2

A first win in 11 outings for the Cantabrians who went ahead in the 19th minute when former Sevilla striker Antonito fired home at the near post after midfielder Felipe Melo supplied him with an excellent low pass from the right.

Argentine defender Mariano Pernia levelled the game two minutes before the break when he outwitted Racing keeper Dudu Aouate with a cleverly disguised free kick from the edge of the area.

But Racing grabbed a vital win when David Aganzo nodded in after a great cross from French midfielder Stephane Dalmat four minutes from time.

MALAGA 0 REAL MADRID 2

First-half goals from Sergio Ramos and Robinho enabled Real's caretaker boss Juan Ramon Lopez Caro to get off to a winning start in the league.

Defender Sergio Ramos, playing in midfield in the absence of the suspended David Beckham, headed in the first when Zinedine Zidane whipped in a corner from the left.

Br azilian forward Robinho added a second three minutes later when he smashed home from 15 metres out after a twinkling run down the right.

OSASUNA 1 REAL MALLORCA 0

Javier Aguirre's Osasuna made it eight wins out of eight at El Sadar to equal their best home run in 22 seasons thanks to an early goal from Pierre Webo.

The Cameroon striker clipped the ball over Toni Prats after the Mallorca keeper scuffed a clearance into his path with just five minutes on the clock.

Osasuna dominated throughout and regularly threatened with their slickly worked counter-attacks, but despite a host of clear scoring chances they were unable to extend their lead.

REAL BETIS 0 ESPANYOL 0

Beleaguered Betis remain bottom of the pile after extending their winless run to eight games with this goalless draw against Espanyol.

The Andalucians had a hatful of opportunities to grab the points but nerves seemed to get the better of their forwards as they fluffed chance after chance and let their opponents escape with a point.

REAL ZARAGOZA 1 CELTA VIGO 0

Zaragoza notched up only their third win of the season with this victory over high-flying Celta.

Br azilian striker Ewerthon secured the points for Victor Munoz's side for the second game in a row when he fired past Jose Manuel Pinto after the Celta keeper had blocked a Diego Milito shot 14 minutes from time.

Played Saturday:

VALENCIA 1 ATHLETIC BILBAO 1

Javier Clemente's Bilbao looked to be heading for their first win at the Mestalla in close to 18 years when winger Joseba Etxeberria gave them the lead against the run of play with a fine glancing header just before the hour mark.

But the Basque side were set a daunting task in defending their lead when fullback Francisco Tarantino was sent off for a high challenge on Miguel Angel Angulo just four minutes later.

Valencia laid siege to the Bilbao area and grabbed a deserved equaliser when Vicente lashed home from 12 metres after a quickly taken free kick in the 75th minute.

REAL SOCIEDAD 1 VILLARREAL 3

Villarreal were caught cold at Anoeta when Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci put Sociedad ahead after just five minutes following a superb 40-metre pass from defender Daniel Cifuentes.

But the visitors equalised before the break when winger Antonio Guayre turned the ball into the net after some great work from playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme.

The Canary islander helped himself to a second when Sociedad keeper Asier Riesgo palmed a Diego Forlan shot into his path shortly after the break and Riquelme capped a masterful display with a wonderful dipping strike 17 minutes from time.
