Kylian Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid hasn’t gone as planned since his free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The 25-year-old, signed through 2029, has faced a challenging start to life in Madrid. His struggles were evident in Real Madrid’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League group phase.
Last Wednesday, with Vinicius sidelined, Mbappé had the opportunity to shine in his preferred role against Liverpool. Instead, the evening turned into a forgettable one for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
This past weekend, Mbappé scored in the match against Getafe, but the forward has yet to appear in meaningful matches. However, that positive momentum didn’t last long as the Frenchman missed a penalty kick in the 68th minute in the 2-1 loss to Athletic Club on Wednesday.
Amid the ongoing struggles that Mbappé is dealing with at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo weighed in on the topic while taking with Rio Ferdinand.
"Let’s see if their head is clear and good, and if they can deal with the pressure, because Real Madrid is not PSG," Ronaldo said. "I can’t tell you. Mbappé will go there now. How would you say Madrid is going to be better or going to be… We don’t know. Let’s see."
"I think Madrid will keep strong, but I don’t know if they will be better than last year. I don’t know. Let’s see. Only God knows. But they have a fantastic team, fantastic players."
