After back-to-back humiliating defeats at the Santiago Bernabeu against Barcelona and AC Milan, Real Madrid take on CA Osasuna in La Liga this weekend and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
Building up to the game, though, concerns had emerged over the availability of key midfielder Federico Valverde, after he was taken off at half-time against Milan on Tuesday night.
Following the match, Carlo Ancelotti stated that the Uruguayan international was dealing with some issues in his back.
Building on that, reports on Wednesday suggested that Valverde could miss the weekend La Liga encounter.
However, in a positive update for Real Madrid, journalist Rodra reports that Valverde will be fit and available to face Osasuna later this week before the international break commences.
This development comes hours after reports emerged claiming that the midfielder was surprised by Ancelotti’s statements about his back issues as he was fully fit and there were never any fitness problems.
Valverde has been a permanent fixture in the starting lineup for Real Madrid under Ancelotti this season and is one of the most-used players by the Italian tactician.
Even though his performance levels have dipped slightly, the Uruguayan ace enjoys the trust of the coaching staff and the club hierarchy.
And his availability for the game against Osasuna, which is a must-win contest for Los Blancos after the recent results, will be a welcome boost.
