Real Madrid star leaves Brazil national team camp with injury

Real Madrid have been dealt another injury blow, as defender Eder Militao is set to leave Br azil’s international squad due to a thigh injury.

The centre-back is expected to return to Spain shortly after suffering a muscle pull during training with his national team. This setback adds to the growing list of injuries plaguing Real Madrid at the start of the season.

Militao was one of four Real Madrid players called up by Br azil for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

However, his injury now forces him out of action, as confirmed by the Br azilian Football Federation (CBF).

According to their statement, Militao experienced discomfort in his right thigh during training at the Atletico Paranaense Training Centre. A clinical examination, including an MRI scan, revealed a minor muscle injury in that area.

" Militao felt muscle discomfort in his right thigh after Wednesday’s training session at Atletico Paranaense’s Training Center," read a statement from the Selecao.

This Thursday, the CBF medical department performed a clinical examination and an MRI, detecting a small muscle injury in his right thigh.

The footballer has been ruled out of the two qualifying matches. The CBF expresses its solidarity with the footballer and wishes him a speedy recovery.

Real Madrid’s injury troubles seem to be piling up, with Militao now joining a long list of sidelined players.

The club is currently without eight key players, including David Alaba, Jesus Vallejo, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Dani Ceballos.

This leaves manager Carlo Ancelotti with only 14 fit players for the upcoming La Liga fixtures, a major concern as they look to bounce back from a challenging start to the season.

Just three days ago, the club also confirmed that Mendy had suffered a relapse of an old injury. The defender was diagnosed with an overload in his right tibia and travelled to Paris with the French national team for further assessment.

After being examined by France’s medical staff, Mendy was withdrawn from the squad by manager Didier Deschamps and replaced by Lucas Digne.

Despite these setbacks, sources within Real Madrid remain cautiously optimistic. It is hoped that both Mendy and Militao could recover in time for the crucial La Liga match against Real Sociedad on 14 September.

However, the final decision will depend on further assessments of their fitness.
