Chelsea are preparing to offer Real Madrid £70million for striker Alvaro Morata after losing out to Manchester United in the race to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to the Daily Mail.
Reports in Spain suggest that Antonio Conte’s side will submit a £70million bid for the 24-year-old Spanish international in the coming days.
It is said that Morata is unhappy with the lack of playing time under manager Zinedine Zidane after serving as second choice to French striker Karim Benzema for the majority of the season.
Chelsea are prepared to offer Morata either a four or five year contract at Stamford Bridge in which he will earn more than the £115,000 a week that he currently picks up at the Bernabeu.
It is reported that Morata will not travel to the United States with the rest of the Real Madrid squad for their pre-season tour as he looks to push for a move to the Premier League champions.
Chelsea are desperate to sign a striker this summer with Diego Costa looking ever more likely to leave the club.
Morata rejoined his home town club from Juventus last summer in a deal worth just £26million.
The Spaniard scored 20 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid last season as the club went on to lift the La Liga title and the Champions League.
