Juande Ramos has explained that Real Madrid supporters have shattered the player's confidence.
Royston Drenthe has been left out of the squad for Real Madrid's last three matches at his own request after suffering from anxiety, head coach Juande Ramos has revealed.
The Dutch starlet was badly affected by sections of Los Merengues' fans jeering him after he came on as a substitute against Deportivo La Coruna at the end of last month.
Madrid supporters voiced their view that he had not been playing well and the booing has left Drenthe's confident in tatters and Ramos is hoping he can rebuild it.
" Drenthe's suffering from anxiety," the coach told Cadena Ser. "He is a young lad that needs all the support of the people who work with him "
"As his coach I will do all I can to help him because he has a lot of potential "
Drenthe was omitted from the games against Numancia, Racing Santander and Sporting Gijon as he looks to overcome his nerves and prepare for his return to action.
"I don't like to feel like I am playing at the Nou Camp or another rival's stadium when I am playing at home " Marca quote him as saying.
"When the fans are unhappy you notice it and it makes it harder to perform well."
