Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Tottenham was met with a sigh of relief by Real Madrid stars.
Real Madrid stars can “breathe easy” again after Tottenham announced Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs following a near year-long absence from the Premier League.
Rumours suggested that the Special One would return to Real and succeed under-fire boss Zinedine Zidane, which caused some concern among the club.
According to Sport, some of Los Blancos’ stars, such as team captain Sergio Ramos, were so worried about a possible Mourinho comeback that they were immensely satisfied once Tottenham took him off the market.
The Portuguese manager joined Real in 2010 and won the 2011 Copa del Rey as well as the La Liga in 2012 throughout his three-year stint at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss’ time in Spain came to an end after he fell out with a number of high-profile players like Iker Casillas and Ramos.
Reports suggest that a possible Mourinho comeback strikes such panic in the dressing room that club president Florentino Perez teases a possible return just to scare his players into action when the results are poor.
Perez tried that formula when Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari were in charge and the team was slumping in the La Liga table.
The Real chief is said to be a big fan of Mourinho but he is actually more likely to target Massimiliano Allegri if he decides to offload Zidane.
The La Liga giants have also been keeping tabs on Pochettino for a while and now have the perfect chance to snatch him if the top job becomes available in Madrid.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is excited to be joining Tottenham and is looking forward to working with the roster.
