Real Madrid are reportedly ready to battle with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the signing of Albacete striker Dani Gonzalez.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid are interested in signing Albacete prodigy Dani Gonzalez this summer but will face competition from arch-rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Dani Gonzalez, a 20-year-old striker, is a product of the Albacete youth academy who made his senior debut for the club in November last year. He has since made 20 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and setting up one more as they achieved promotion to La Liga 2.
However, Gonzalez’s time with Albacete could be coming to an end this summer as Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing the 20-year-old. The reigning Spanish and European champions want the Spanish forward as a reinforcement for the Castilla outfit who could be losing a couple of their strikers.
Indeed, Raul Gonzalez’s squad could be without Juanmi Latasa for the next season as the 21-year-old could be promoted to the senior team as a backup for Karim Benzema. And with Andri Gudjohnsen leaving for Sweden, Castilla are set to be deprived of two of their strikers for the upcoming campaign.
Real Madrid have already brought in Noel Lopez to partially address those concerns, but Raul Gonzalez is keen on adding another centre-forward to his squad and has recommended the signing of Dani Gonzalez. However, Los Blancos will face competition from arch-rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the race for the 20-year-old.
Barcelona have been strengthening their second team with great intent this summer, having already made some exciting additions in the form of Pablo Torre, Emre Demir and Nil Ruiz, among others. However, their recruitment is far from done as new manager Rafa Marquez looks to build a team that can win promotion to the Spanish second division.
To that end, Gonzalez has emerged as a potential target, with Barcelona already making a move for him. Atletico Madrid, too, are reported to have launched an approach for the 20-year-old Albacete ace. Contracted with the La Liga 2 side until the summer of 2025, it remains to be seen if Gonzalez leaves this summer, and if he does, it will be interesting to see where the young Spaniard ends up.
