At the back-end of the 2022-23 season, Alvaro Rodriguez made his mark on the Real Madrid first team, having been promoted from Castilla due to injuries.
The Uruguayan striker scored against Atletico Madrid, while his general play also impressed head coach Carlo Ancelotti, although it wasn’t enough to earn a spot in his squad for 2023-24.
Rodriguez has been unable to break into Ancelotti’s plans over the last 10 months, and as such, The Athletic have reported that he will be considered as a candidate to be sold. Los Blancos are not considering a loan at present, as they would rather sell him with a 50% sell-on clause – an approach they have used regularly in recent years.
Clubs in La Liga and the Segunda are eyeing up a move for Rodriguez, who will be keen to secure regular first team football wherever he does go. Real Madrid still want to control his future somewhat, as they clearly believe that he is a valuable prospect.
