Real Madrid’s recent 1-1 draw against Osasuna was full of tension, but the match became even more intense due to a controversial incident involving Jude Bellingham.
The midfielder’s red card took center stage in the aftermath, overshadowing other events that unfolded at the El Sadar Stadium in Pamplona.
While Bellingham’s red card caused a stir, there was a disturbing moment when a group of Osasuna fans targeted Real Madrid’s Br azilian forward, Vinicius Jr.
TV cameras caught a section of the crowd chanting offensive and threatening remarks, including the horrific phrase “Vinicius, die!” directed at the striker.
The chants erupted after Vinicius celebrated Kylian Mbappe’s goal, drawing the ire of the crowd who had booed him throughout the game.
In fact, this unsporting behaviour began even before the match, with beach balls being thrown onto the pitch during the warm-up, which only intensified the hostile atmosphere.
Despite the vile nature of the chants, the referee, Jose Luis Munuera Montero, did not include them in his match report.
However, DAZN indicated that La Liga officials would likely review the footage, as they routinely monitor such incidents. The hateful chanting was captured and could potentially lead to further action from the league, given the severity of the insults.
On the pitch, Bellingham’s situation remains uncertain. The red card was issued after the referee allegedly misinterpreted his words. Video evidence suggests that Bellingham used the phrase “f*** off” rather than the more aggressive “f*** you,” as the referee had believed.
This misunderstanding could work in Bellingham’s favour, as the footage provides a strong case for the Real Madrid midfielder’s innocence.
The club intends to submit this video to the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee, hoping to have the red card overturned and avoid a suspension for one of their key players.
