Real Madrid’s interest in Lille’s young centre-back prodigy Leny Yoro is an open secret by now.
Despite the intense competition for the teenager’s signature, Los Blancos continue to be heavy favourites due to Yoro’s own desire to don the royal white jersey.
With Nacho Fernandez’s departure official and the club in need of beefing up their defensive ranks, Real Madrid consider Yoro a priority for their back-line.
Now, as per José Manuel Moreno, Real Madrid are discreetly engaging in negotiations with Lille for the acquisition of French centre-back Lenny Yoro.
Lille, aware of Yoro’s contract expiration in 2025, are likely to accept an offer within the range of €25-30 million.
Despite the excitement among fans, which could potentially drive the defender’s market value up to €40-50 million, Real Madrid intends to avoid such a high expenditure.
Considering that the French club initially set a steep price of €80 million at the beginning of negotiations, securing a deal in the range of €25-30 million would undoubtedly be a bargain for the Merengues.
Yoro’s persistence to play for Real Madrid and unwillingness to entertain other offers has put Los Blancos in the driving seat.
Reports have previously mentioned that Yoro has refused to renew his contract at Lille, which has given Real Madrid a massive edge in negotiations.
After all, the 18-year-old’s disapproval of extending means Lille will have to let him go this summer in order to prevent the possibility of losing him for nothing when his contract expires in 2025.
In fact, a resolution is expected to be achieved soon and Real Madrid hopes to reach an agreement for the promising centre-back in the near future.
