Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Sao Paolo midfielder Lucas Fernandes, who only has 18 months remaining of his contract, say reports in Spain.
According to Diario AS, coach Jesus Moreira – who also ensured Madrid signed Casemiro from the Br azilian giants – has recommended the 19-year-old to Los Blancos.
The club’s interest was reportedly initially triggered by his strong performance in last year’s Under-20 Copa Libertadores and the club have since regularly scouted the midfielder.
“We are in contact on a regular basis,” AS quoted Moreira as telling media in Br azil.
“The club wanted additional information on Lucas and we informed them that he is a balanced kid, very talented and he's been playing well. He's good with the ball at his feet.”
Fernandes has only played 21 times for the club and due to his contract expiring at the end of 2018, could be available on an affordable deal.
