Real Madrid have had a busy week as they announced the signings of Fran Garcia and Jude Bellingham while also confirming the return and contract renewal of Brahim Diaz.
However, the business is far from done at the Santiago Bernabeu as more recruits are expected to arrive in the coming weeks. At least two new forwards, Joselu and one of Harry Kane or Kylian Mbappe, could end up at Real Madrid in the near future.
At the same time, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports that the Merengues continue to be on the lookout for full-backs despite the arrival of Garcia.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti would ideally prefer a player who can play both at right-back and left-back, which has led to two profiles in Joao Cancelo and Achraf Hakimi.
However, the former is not an option the club are considering, having ruled out his signing in January while Hakimi is unlikely to arrive from PSG.
As such, Real Madrid are looking at other options, and for the left-back position, the report states that the Merengues really admire Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich. However, a move for the Canadian international will only be considered if the club can offload Ferland Mendy.
Davies, whose market value stands at €70 million, has been on Real Madrid’s radars for a while now. The 22-year-old has developed into one of the most dangerous left-backs in Europe during his time in Bavaria.
Despite battling with some injury problems, the left-back finished with a tally of three goals and eight assists from 38 games in all competitions in 2022/23.
With Mendy struggling with form and fitness for the majority of the last season, Real Madrid are open to selling the Frenchman this summer. Should they be successful in those efforts, the Spanish capital outfit plan on moving for Davies.
However, despite their strong interest in him, Real Madrid will find it hard to sign him as Bayern Munich do not have intentions to sell him this summer. But with his contract expiring in 2025, Los Blancos could have an opportunity to move for him next year.
