Veteran Real Madrid defender Nacho Frenandez is “very close” to making the move to Inter Milan, according to Spanish media.
This according to Spanish reported Arancha Rodriguez, via Real Madrid news outlet Madrid Zone in a post on their Twitter account.
Veteran Real defender Nacho’s current contract runs out at the end of this month.
Los Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the 33-year-old will make a decision on his future soon.
Should Nacho not extend his contract, he can leave the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer. Inter have already reportedly offered the Spaniard a three-year contract to join this summer.
The Nerazzurri are ready to revamp their defense this summer.Aside from Milan Skriniar’s imminent departure for Paris Saint-Germain, the futures of all of Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, and Danilo D’Ambrosio are up in the air.
Reports suggest that they see the experienced Real Madrid defender as an ideal candidate to add proven quality in defense.
According to Spanish reported Rodriguez, Nacho is on the verge of joining the Nerazzurri.
He claims that the 33-year-old will in all likelihood make the move this summer.
To date, Nacho has only ever played for Real Madrid.
The Madrid-born defender came through Los Blancos’ youth ranks and has been a regular in the team for over a decade.This has included over a hundred appearances for Real’s youth team.
He has won numerous titles in the Spanish capital during that period. These have included five Champions League trophies.
Nacho has made a total of 318 appearances for Real Madrid’s senior team to date.
The Spaniard has also played for his national team since 2013. To date, Nacho has been capped by Spain a total of 23 times, including appearing regularly at the 2018 World Cup.
