Has it been a good summer for Los Blancos?
It’s been a quiet summer for Real Madrid, something fairly unusual. Los Blancos were expected to sign Kylian Mbappe but the striker decided to join Paris Saint-Germain instead, while other promising transfers which could’ve consolidated the roster ended up undone, like Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Still, Madrid added young players like Theo Hernandez, Dani Ceballos or Marcos Llorente to the roster and while it could be said that they lost some depth with the departure of James Rodriguez and Morata, Los Blancos still have a deep roster which should be capable of competing for all three titles.
It will be interesting to see how Zidane manages his roster this year after rotating his squad week in and week out last season. Young prospects like Ceballos, Kovacic, Asensio, Theo or Llorente will need minutes to develop and reach their potential, so the French coach will have to trust them down the road if he wants to have his main starters fresh enough to compete in big games.
