According to reports in Spain, Lionel Messi's club Inter Miami CF want to sign a Real Madrid legend but it could prove difficult for one key reason.
Real Madrid legend David Beckham has made quite the career for himself. Not just in the realm of sports, Beckham is a household name not just in Europe but also in North America. A family man, business persona and retired world-class footballer, David Beckham now works with the likes of Lionel Messi as the president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF.
Not only does Lionel Messi lead the Inter Miami CF roster, he is also partnered by fellow ex-Barcelona players Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. So, it is fair to say that Inter Miami are very Barcelona heavy which is surprising considering David Beckham's former ties to Real Madrid. Still, this just shows the magnetic impact of signing Lionel Messi.
Now, David Beckham has turned his attention to Real Madrid, where he would like Inter Miami to sign their next player. However, he may be dreaming.
According to Sport, Inter Miami CF are working hard to sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid. In 10 days time, Luka Modric will be out of contract at Real Madrid but the consensus is that the club legend will stay, at least for another year. So, it is probably going to prove difficult for Inter Miami to pull off this transfer.
After all, it is common practice for Real Madrid to keep ahold of their club legends, with a recent example being Toni Kroos who retired at the club this year.
Luka Modric is still capable of playing at the highest level, which is demonstrated not just by his spectacular performances last season but also with his leadership qualities demonstrated with Croatia at EURO 2024.
With Toni Kroos retiring, Luka Modric is tipped to play a big role in the Real Madrid squad next season. Inter Miami will certainly try but Real Madrid fans and Carlo Ancelotti hope that Modric has already made up his mind.
