Real Madrid have always been home to some of the best and most recognisable players in the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, Luis Figo, Karim Benzema, Raul, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Alfredo Di Stefano, David Beckham, and the list goes on and on. At this point in time, the club seem to be in the middle of a transitional phase though.
They don’t really have a bonafide superstar at the moment. Modric and Kroos are in the twilight of their careers and find themselves with reduced roles in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham are on the verge of superstardom, but not quite there just yet.
A lot of that has to do with the change in their transfer policy in recent years. They have moved away from their Galactico-style moves and focussed on signing the best young talents instead.
That does not mean that they are not being linked with the biggest names in the game. In fact, both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are rumoured to be transfer targets.
As reported by MARCA, Real Madrid will be attentive to what Mbappe and Haaland do and to the opportunity that may appear. But as has been demonstrated in the recently completed summer transfer window, they are not going to abandon their plans. The club are faithful to their sporting project. They are not going to mortgage their future upon the arrival of either player.
Now, fans might get impatient at times with the lack of activity from Real Madrid in transfer windows. But it is important to understand they are trying to maintain the stability of the club.
They do not want to be in a situation where they are forced to make decisions that they do not want to, just because of circumstances. Despite this, the team have continued to be successful on the pitch.
