Arsenal open to selling Real Madrid target but price remains steep

In recent weeks, it has come to light that Real Madrid have set their sights on Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori as they look to bolster their defensive options.

The Spanish giants have been closely monitoring his performances, and as reported by Calciamercato, there is a possibility that Arsenal, his current club, could be open to selling him in the future.

Calafiori has endured a challenging journey in his career, having suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for a prolonged period.

However, he has successfully put those struggles behind him and made an impressive comeback in the latter part of the season.

His performances in the Champions League have further highlighted his capabilities, making him a key figure in Arsenal’s backline.

His style of play, which blends defensive resilience with an ability to contribute to attacking moves, has not gone unnoticed by Real Madrid’s scouts.

The Spanish club are eager to reinforce their defence, especially considering the frequent injury setbacks of Eder Militao and David Alaba.

With both players struggling to maintain consistent fitness, Real Madrid see Calafiori as a viable option to provide stability at the back.

His ability to play out from defence, combined with his strong physical presence, makes him an attractive prospect for the club’s long-term plans.

Last summer, Calafiori was also on the radar of Juventus, but instead of moving to Serie A, he chose to take on a new challenge in the Premier League.

He made the switch from Bologna to Arsenal in a deal worth approximately €45 million. While he has adapted well to English football, Arsenal are reportedly not ruling out the idea of a transfer if the right offer comes in.

However, for any deal to materialise, the Los Blancos have been told to fork out €75-€80 million.

With Real Madrid keeping a close watch on his progress, it remains to be seen whether they will make an official approach to bring the talented Italian to the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future.
