One of Real Madrid’s most creative players from the last few seasons has offered himself to arch rivals- Barcelona- in a potentially shocking deal.
Lionel Messi is 32 years old now, but it is no secret that Barcelona are heavy reliant on their captain for doing the attacking job week in and week out. The Argentina international is scoring, creating and assisting- all on his own. A transfer for some reputed playmaker would certainly lift the load off Messi’s shoulder.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has offered himself to Barca, arch rivals of his former employers Real Madrid, according to Fox Sports. The former Germany international seems to have fallen out with Unai Emery having featured just twice this season. He has been an unused sub in two fixtures and left out of the squad completely for the other games.
Ozil is now 30 years old, so he is pretty clear about not wanting to be a second fiddle for the rest of his career. As it is, the former Real Madrid midfielder has called it a day on his international career after retiring from Germany’s national team as protest towards the board amid claims of discrimination.
Unai Emery has clearly mentioned that he will only play those who give their all in training sessions and the Gunners’ club chief Raul Sanllehi also backed the ex-Sevilla boss’ words. However, Raul also mentioned that he hopes to see Mesut Ozil in action more often than he has been playing so far in the campaign.
Fenerbahce are thought to be interested in making a loan move for Ozil in January and split his huge wages, but it is thought that the player himself is keen on returning to Spain, this time to the Camp Nou. Ozil is also willing to take a compensation in his payment which currently stands at 350,000 pounds per week.
